Huyke is a renowned Chef known for her pioneering restaurant work in Puerto Rico and as a media trailblazer and cooking show host that earned her the moniker as the “Julia Child of Puerto Rico.” Over 10,000 cooking shows were produced, reaching millions of viewers daily and running uninterrupted for 23 years. Additionally, she has published six cookbooks and 20 recipe collections of her culinary creations. Credited with the use of local ingredients along with traditional cooking methods, Huyke has created a new class of lighter and healthier dishes without sacrificing traditional flavors. But Huyke does not stop there.

Always in motion, Giovanna Huyke returned to her first love a decade ago: being a restaurant Chef. Now in Cambridge, Giovanna Huyke is Executive Chef of La Fabrica Central Restaurant, a Caribbean restaurant nestled between Harvard and MIT, on the edge of the biotech and technology innovation district. Since her arrival in 2017, the restaurant has earned winning reviews from leading media outlets such as Boston Magazine, The Boston Globe, Phantom Gourmet, Best of Boston 2018 and Diner’s Choice 2019, among some.

Prior to Cambridge, Chef Huyke was Executive Chef of Mio Restaurant in Washington D.C., where Washington Post’s top food critic, Tom Sietsema, called Huyke’s pork rubbed with achiote oil and roasted ‘a new last-meal request.’ Mio earned a spot in the “Top Forty Fall Dining Guide” at The Washington Post and was ranked among the “Top 100 Restaurants” by Washingtonian Magazine. In Miami, Huyke served as global culinary ambassador for Puerto Rican cooking by consulting for various restaurant projects, serving as menu-designer and composer, speaking at various cooking events, and serving as judge at various Puerto Rican culinary events.

Chef Giovanna Huyke started her career at Paul Prudehomme’s Louisiana Kitchen and as an assistant to legendary Lee Barnes while finishing her college degree at Tulane. Huyke then moved to New York City to work with renowned chef Felipe Rojas-Lombardi, the Peruvian-born chef who “helped bring a Spanish and Caribbean influence into America's haute cuisine repertory,” according to the New York Times.

She has appeared in numerous national shows such as the Food Network, Good Morning America, and Univision ‘Despierta’ morning show (teaching Martha Stewart how to make plantains.) Her work has been published in The New York Times, Bon Appetit, and Food and Wine to name a few. Chef Huyke is an active speaker and participant in gastronomic conferences and events such as SaboreaPR, the largest Caribbean culinary festival held in Puerto Rico every year. In 2023, and participated in San Se Atlanta 2023. Huyke comes back to Puerto Rico to help new generations of chef and entrepreneurs, have a Youtube Channel of her own, private dinners, and more.
